Welcome to The Faux Vegan. I am delighted at the possibility that there may be someone out there who loves food as much as I do, and also that there may be someone on the other end of the internet reading this post.
I am The Faux Vegan.
I am a work in progress, and constantly "in-process." This is a philosophy that spills over into all areas of life. As we learn better ways and methods of living, eating, relating, functioning, being, we gradually begin to relay these principles into other areas. It is precisely these reasons that led to the idea for starting The Faux Vegan blog.
I am an avid believer and practitioner of natural and holistic living. I wasn't always this way though. I grew up drinking sodas, eating fast food, processed foods galore. I mean I could go into detail, but lets just say I could easily have ended up on The Biggest Loser a long time ago, had I not slowly learned what processed foods do to our bodies. That being said, I'm not perfect today. I still struggle with certain areas, mainly sugar -but the difference now is I understand moderation, and balance.
"So why the Faux Vegan?" You might ask... and the answer is simple:
There are so many variables (hormones, preservatives, GMO's etc) in our food supply these days that I came to a point in my eating style that I decided I had to make eating a plant based diet a priority. I had "flirted" with eating vegan before and I really loved the way it made by body feel.
This is where the "Faux" comes in. I use the word "Faux" because I love food so much that I chose to be in a "non-committal" relationship with my vegan life. At this state in our relationship we're doing alot more than flirting but I sometimes cheat on my vegan life with vegetarianism, and/or organic meat, and on the very rare occasion, organic cheeses and greek yogurt. (I really try avoid dairy more than anything. It's quite mucous forming! yuck! not to mention it really raises the acidity levels in the body, making your body less alkaline and more of an ideal environment for disease.)
Essentially, that's the schtick of this blog. Healthy, primarily plant based dishes made from beautiful foods that will make a beautiful body. Mostly vegan, with a few non-vegan dishes sprinkled in for an occasional thrill -because after all moderation is key, balance is healthy and life is for living. I'm enjoying mine, after you taste my first recipe, I think you will too! Welcome to The Faux Vegan, here's my first deelish dish..
